  • What are the least requirements for the card?
    The checklist of minimum requirements for your laptop is as under:
    • 300 MHz Pentium compatible CPU.
    • Windows 2000 (SP4), XP (SP1 or SP2) or Mac OS**.
    • 32 bit type II (Card bus) PC card slot.
    • 30 MB free disk space.
    • Telenor Data Package SIM card.
       
  • I do not have a laptop, can I connect this card to my PC?
    Usually PCs are not equipped with external PCMCIA slots needed for Telenor EDGE card. To provide internet connectivity at PCs, a normal EDGE enabled mobile phone can be connected with PC through a data cable. Click here to learn more about this procedure.

  • From where I can buy this card?
    Corporate customers can ask their Relationship Excutives for the EDGE card. For personal use, you can buy this card from Telenor Sales & Service Centers in 11 cities. Sales & Service Centers

  • I am a student; do you think I need this card/service?
    All users of EDGE-based GSM technology have the advantage of accessing services that mandate high-speed Internet use such as downloading videos, music files, multimedia messaging etc. Students can benefit from these advantages being heavy Internet users, for research, entertainment, blogging, chatting & surfing.

  • What are the contents of Telenor EDGE Card (89)?
    The following items should be there in the box when you unpack it:

    A small rotective case for storing the card
    GC89
    Quick Start Guide
    Warranty Card
    CD-ROM (contains drivers, software, documentation and a readme file) 
  • Can I use this card with any Telenor connection?
    Any GPRS enabled Telenor Postpaid SIM can be used. Performance will be the same. Special Data Packages (postpaid) are designed to provide best rates of GPRS, EDGE & SMS. Use of a Prepaid SIM is not recommended.

  • Can my existing Telenor SIM and package plan be converted to use the EDGE Card/Data packages?
    Yes, migration from existing Telenor Prepaid or Postpaid packages is possible to any of the four data packages. Later, if needed, you can migrate your data packages to any of the Postpaid tariffs.

  • In what places can Internet be used with these cards?
    Any town and city where Telenor service is available. Currently there are more than 1,100 destinations. These include all airports, highways, railway stations, hotels, cities and major towns. See list at: Telenor Coverage

  • Can this card be used internationally?
    Yes, with Telenor's International GPRS roaming- which is largest to be offered by any operator in Pakistan- you can use the Internet on your laptop in many countries. See list at: International Roaming

  • Can I choose to change the amount of the monthly line rent?
    There are four data packages with different line rents available to choose from. Subscription to SMS is optional. There is no zero line rent package.

  • What is wireless LAN? What is WiFi?
    Wireless LAN allows you to connect your laptop to local network & printers, allowing you file sharing, printing, email, web & network applications. In Pakistan WiFi is inreasingly being deployed in offices, factories, hotels & airports.

  • Does this card support a wireless LAN (WiFi?
    Telenor EDGE Card (89) is also a wireless LAN connectivity card. Its supports WiFi (802.11g & 802.11b).

  • What do I do if I already have a Telenor Postpaid package and want to get this card?
    You can buy an EDGE Card without the Telenor Data connection by showing the Telenor postpaid connection at the time of purchase.

  • What is the average speed I will get while connecting with my card?
    The speed varies depending upon signal strength/location. Card supports high speed Internet access, up to 247 kbps (30.875 KB/sec).

  • What is the difference between Telenor EDGE cards and others?
    Other operators' products are GPRS cards. These are not EDGE enabled. Telenor EDGE Card gives you speeds up to four four-time faster than GPRS.

  • How will I receive support for the card?
    You can receive support in either of the three following ways:
    • 1. Through Help material (supplied with the Package): Printed User Guide and CD are accompanied with the card. It contains detailed installation and usage instructions.
    • 2. Through web site:
      Telenor web site contain installation guide, FAQs, resolution of commonly faced warning & error messages
    • 3. Through Phone:
    • In Pakistan:
      You can contact 24/7 365 days-a-year on Telenor Call Center (call 345 from a Telenor number or 111-345-100 from any other network). You can also visit nearest Sales & Service Center for limited support for installation & troubleshooting.
    • Outside Pakistan:
      If you are travelling, you can seek local telephonic support in sixty countries. See the list in the product manual available with the product.
  • How can I claim warranty for the card?
    Limited warranty for approximately one year from date of purchase is available. One-year replacement warranty at any Telenor Sales & Service Center. Please bring the complete package with the warranty card and the Sales Receipt. The card will be replaced with no questions asked.
     
  • Are there any safety instructions while installing of the Card?
    Yes. Do not insert the EDGE card into your laptop until you have installed the Wireless Manager. Disconnect any peripherals that are not needed at the moment, and exit all unnecessary applications that are running prior to installing the Wireless Manager.

  • Does the card need to be taken out while not in use or computer is being shut down?
    No. The card can permanently stay in the slot. Since the card goes inside your laptop, you can pack and carry the laptop in the bag while the card is inserted. Unlike a USB drive or a mouse, it does not need to be plugged in and out every time
