Irfan Wahab Khan
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO)

Background: Irfan Wahab Khan is a digital evangelist, passionate about empowering Pakistan through Digital and Financial Inclusion, strong believer in the potential of our youth. He has a long association with Telenor Pakistan being the first member of the launch team when he joined the company as Executive Vice President in 2004. Khan has over 25 years of diverse management experience with leading telecommunication companies such as Orange, T-Mobile, and Ericsson across North America, Europe and Asia.

Over the last twelve years, under his dynamic leadership, Telenor Pakistan reached more than 40 million subscribers, gained revenue market share, and launched largest 3G and 4G footprint along with a number of innovative products and services. Taking forward Telenor Pakistan’s mission of empowering Pakistan, he enabled breakthrough digital services including Internet of Things (IoT), mobile agriculture services (mAgri), startup accelerator Velocity, and partnerships with the likes of Facebook, Google and Netflix etc.

He is Board Member for Telenor Pakistan, Telenor Micro Finance Bank and The Indus Entrepreneurship (Islamabad chapter). Irfan is also a member of Management Committee of Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he is heading Taxation sub-committee.

Education: He holds a Master of Science degree in Mobile communication from University of Westminster London, Advance Management from INSEAD France, Marketing and Brand Management from London Business School, Financial Management from Harvard Business School and Global CEO Program from Wharton. Irfan is also a life time Alumni of INSEAD and IESE.

 

Bilal Kazmi
CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER (CMO)

Background: Bilal Kazmi started his journey with Telenor in 2004 when he joined Telenor Pakistan as Senior Manager Plan and Concept in Sales & Distribution. After designing and launching the distribution model of TP, Bilal went on to lead Telenor Pakistan’s Product Development, Postpaid and Call Center organizations. He was appointed as Vice President and Head of Customer Care Division in 2011. 

Bilal moved to Telenor’s Asia Office in Bangkok in 2013 as Vice President of Global Shared Services and in 2014, he become the Vice President and Head of International Business for Dtac, Thailand. While continuing to retain the same responsibility, he became a part of Telenor Global WholeSale’s management team in January 2016.

At Telenor Pakistan, Bilal spearheads Marketing, Sales & Distribution, Business Intelligence & Analytics, Customer Care, Projects and Portfolio management and Segments & Product.

 

Khurrum Ashfaque
CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (CTO)

Background: Khurrum Ashfaque has 21 years of international and local technical experience and has been associated with Telenor Pakistan since 2006. In 2013 he was appointed Director Technology Operations and during this period Telenor Pakistan went through a huge network transformation project where legacy GSM network was swapped with more efficient equipment in terms of technology evolution, power consumption and cost efficient Managed Services.

At Telenor Pakistan, Khurrum heads Digital & IT Development, Network Engineering, Business Security and Technology Operations.

 

Kamal Ahmed
CHIEF CORPORATE AFFAIRS OFFICER (CCO)

Background: Kamal Ahmed is a seasoned ICT professional with over 28 year of international and domestic experience in leading multiple renowned organizations. He joined from Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) where he worked as Chief Digital Services Officer. Kamal has also lead Microsoft Corporation in Pakistan as the Country General Manager.  He served as Managing Director for Nortel Networks in Pakistan.  He played an instrumental role as the Project Manager in the launch of Ufone.  He has served as a consultant for the UNDP and worked for Sprint in the US in various capacities.

Kamal has been part of Telenor Pakistan’s leadership team since August 2017.  And in his current role he is leading the regulatory and interconnect, public and government affairs, legal, corporate communications and sustainability functions.  Kamal holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, from Iowa State University, USA. 

 

Sardar Mohammad Abubakar
CHIEF DIGITAL & STRATEGY OFFICER

Background: Sardar Mohammad Abubakr has gained experience in expat and project roles from over 7 countries including expat roles within Telenor Group in Norway, Telenor Pakistan and Cable & Wireless Communications Maldives. He also has significant cross industry exposure including Manufacturing, Retail, Banking, and Not for Profit Sectors from his time with PwC.

Abubakr has been associated with Telenor since the past 13 years in various roles across finance, strategy and transformation. Abubakr took on the role of Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer in 2017 and took on additional responsibilities as acting Chief Finance Officer in June 2018. Currently, he has been appointed as Chief Digital and Strategy Officer at Telenor Pakistan where he is heading dynamic portfolio of digital products, mobile agriculture, mobile advertisement and strategy & transformation.

Abubakr is a Professionally Qualified Accountant, a Six Sigma Black Belt, a Qualified Project Management Practitioner (Prince 2, UK), a Graduate of Telenor's Accelerate Leadership Program, a Graduate of the TRMC Program (Telecom Regulatory Master Class) from ICC, UK and a Graduate of the DIGS Program (Driving Digital & Social Strategy) of Harvard Business School, US.

 

Marius Gigernes
CHIEF FINANCE OFFICER

Background: Marius has been associated with Telenor since the past 15 years and has an impressive experience in financial strategy, analysis and reporting. He started his career from Telenor Mobil as a Controller in 2003 and moved to Group functions in 2006 as Business Manager in Bangkok, Thailand with responsibility for Telenor Pakistan and DTAC. Marius moved in 2011 to the role as Director of Business Performance at Telenor Norway, and in 2014 he was appointed as Vice President & Chief Finance Officer for Telenor Global Shared Services. After a successful tenure in GSS, Marius is currently Chief Finance Officer at Telenor Pakistan.

He is a graduate of BI Norwegian Business School and holds a Master of Business, Economics and Finance with further courses from INSEAD and Harvard.

 

Haroon Bhatti
CHIEF BUSINESS OFFICER

Background:  Haroon Bhatti leads B2B activities at Telenor Pakistan, focused on mobile and fixed connectivity, IoT / M2M solutions, and analytical & digital marketing services for business customers.  Prior to that, he served in various HR leadership positions across Telenor Group’s Asian operations, namely, Chief HR Officer at Digi (Malaysia), Senior Vice President of People Development at Telenor Asia (Thailand), Chief People Officer at Grameenphone (Bangladesh), and Chief People Officer at dtac (Thailand).   Haroon began his career with Telenor Pakistan in 2005 as Budget & Process Coordinator and then moved on to various roles in HR.

Haroon is a graduate of McGill University in Canada, and holds an MA in Political Science and a BA in Economics and Political Science.

 

Lene Gaathaug
CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER

Background:  Lene Gaathaug is the Chief Human Resource Officer at Telenor Pakistan with over 20 years of experience in HR and legal functions. She joined Telenor in 2001 as Project Manager and moved to Telenor Broadcast Holdings AS where she served as HR Director for Technology and Information Security, and later for People and Organization. She was appointed HR Business Partner for Telenor Group in 2009 and took over the responsibilities of 'Legal Advisor – Employer Role' before joining Telenor GSS as VP and Head of HR in 2014. At Telenor GSS, Lene helped the organization and management to run business and people processes in line with Telenor's defined values and 'way of work'. She was responsible for HR, Communication and Admin support.

At Telenor Pakistan, Lene is the driver of people policy and organizational culture, with Employer Branding, Rewards and Talent Acquisition falling under her domain.

Prior to joining Telenor, Lene served as Legal Advisor and HR Director for Oslo Council (Oslo Kommune), the Municipality of Oslo. She holds a legal professional degree (Cand. Jur) from The University of Oslo.
