Telenor, PTCL sign SMS Interconnect Agreement

ISLAMABAD, May 10, 2005: Telenor Pakistan took another step ahead in providing value-added services to its customers by signing Short Messaging Service (SMS) Interconnect Agreement with PTCL, the largest fixed line operator.

After implementation of this interconnectivity, mobile subscribers of Telenor Pakistan will be able to send and receive SMS to fixed line and WLL subscribers of PTCL.

The agreement was signed by Irfan Wahab Khan Executive Vice President Telenor Pakistan and Gul Ahmad Chief Engineer Policy and Regulations PTCL. Speaking on the occasion EVP Irfan Wahab Khan emphasized the importance of messaging in the modern era of communications and described SMS as an emerging technology which established itself as an important means of communication worldwide. By signing an interconnect with PTCL, Telenor Pakistan mobile users will remain in contact with their homes as well as offices while moving throughout the world, he further added.
