Telenor Pakistan launches one million celebrations

Islamabad July 22, 2005: Telenor ASA of Norway declared its financial results, announcing a significant growth for the second quarter 2005. Telenor Pakistan revealed 836,000 subscribers by end of its second quarter in Islamabad. The company is marching towards a million customers, demonstrating the fastest market share growth in the industry.

Since Telenor commercial launch on March 15, 2005 additional base stations have been added to the network in various cities. Strengthening its state of the art network, number of base stations in the three major cities has also increased and new cities added to the footprint.

An aggressive roll out plan will see Telenor Pakistan reaching about 80 cities and major highways in third quarter 2005, including Quetta, Sukkur, Sialkot, Multan, Attock, Abottabad. Telenor Pakistan currently operates in 10 cities. By year end, Telenor Pakistan will offer its commercial services in 175 cities. The accumulated capital expenses till year end 2007 are calculated to 600-700 million USD (excluding license payments).

Celebrating one million customers, Telenor Pakistan is launching new campaigns introducing 50% reduced rates for calls from Telenor to Telenor on both post and pre-paid packages. To celebrate the growing Telenor family, customers can now make nationwide on net calls for as low as Rs.1.24 per minute postpaid and Rs.1.72 per minute pre-paid. As part of the celebration, Telenor will also come up with another exciting campaign shortly.

Telenor Pakistan has recently reduced International call charges significantly. Customers can call friends and family in USA, Canada, UK, Germany and France for as low as Rs.7 per minute.

The international mobile business shows that Telenor has reached 67.1 million mobile subscribers world wide. The company is considered to be well positioned for future revenue and profit growth.

Telenor Pakistan is the newcomer among the 12 Telenor mobile companies worldwide. The company is 100% owned by Telenor and adds on to operations in Asia together with Thailand, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
