Telenor Posts Impressive Results

ISLAMABAD, October 27, 2005: Telenor Pakistan reveals that it is now operational in more than 100 cities and highways across Pakistan as a result of the fastest network expansion in the industry. The announcement was made as Telenor shared its third quarter results with the media here at its headquarters. On the occasion, Telenor ASA's financial results were also declared displaying strong performance all around. Compared to the third quarter of 2004, Telenor group's revenues in the third quarter of 2005 increased by 13 per cent, reaching NOK 17.6 billion, and the number of subscribers increased by 65% to 74.5 million.

Emphasizing the quality of Telenor Pakistan's tremendous expansion, Telenor Pakistan CEO, Tore Johnsen said, It is not just the pace of expansion but also the quality that matters to us. By delivering on its promise of the High Performance 'dense' network, built to European design standards, Telenor is ensuring excellent connectivity, superior voice clarity and high performance data services. He reiterated that Telenor was now covering more than 100 cities and highways including large cities such as Abbotabad, Chiniot, Lahore, Daska, Mardan, Gujar Khan, Multan, Gujranwala, Naushera, Gujrat, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Jehlum, Jhang, Karachi, Sialkot, Sukkur, Kasur, Wazirabad, Muzaffarabad, and a wide array of smaller cities. He further added, An even more aggressive roll out plan will see Telenor Pakistan reaching more than 200 destinations by the end of the year, including Murree, DI Khan, Sargodha, Larkana, Thatta, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Hub, Toba Tek Singh, Kharian, Chakwal, Risalpur, Nawbshah, Gwadar and many more.

Tore stated that Telenor Pakistan was focused at creating meaningful and exciting new campaigns with tremendous value for customers. He shared that Telenor's recent offer- 2nd minute low price concept- was a GSM industry first and made it easier for the prepaid customer to have longer, more meaningful conversations. He also revealed the soon-to-be launched offer of international prepaid roaming, another industry first, to respond to consumer needs.
