Telenor is awarded AJK and NA license

ISLAMABAD, June 26, 2006: Telenor Pakistan today, was awarded the license in Azad Kashmir and Northern (AJK & NA) Areas after paying a fee of USD 5 million. The remaining USD 5 million is to be paid in 10 annual installments.

CEO Telenor Pakistan, Tore Johnsen, receiving the license for AJK and NA said After the devastating earthquake of 2005, Telenor Pakistan and its employees have been committed to providing support and relief to the victims of the disaster and our resolve is as strong today as it was that day. This initiative is also a continuation of our commitment to the country and in line with our new brand identity. Then, we humbly offered our services: Earthquake relief package of Rs. 65 mn, free emergency communication to survivors and rescue workers, early roll out in affected areas, employee contributions and last week we begun a program with SOS village of Pakistan to help several of the earthquake orphans, provide free communication facilities to them so they can talk to relatives, and support the organization to raise further funds for the cause.?
