This Eid Telenor introduced International MMS, an industry first

Islamabad, 03 January, 2006: Telenor Pakistan the fastest growing network in the country - took yet another step ahead in providing value-added services to its customers by introducing International Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS). This service, launched on Eid & New Years, enables customers to exchange MMS or multimedia messages with their loved ones in over 18 countries worldwide. With this new service, the Telenor customers have become the only privileged ones in the local market who can send to, and receive MMS from across the world. Even though it has only been a few days since launch, the service has already received an enthusiastic response from the market.

The International MMS destinations offered on the launch of this service are: Norway, Thailand, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, China, Macau, Czech Republic, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Germany, Austria, Serbia & Montenegro, Denmark, Ukraine, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia, Hungary. Telenor plans to expand this list aggressively in the coming months.

With the advent of value-added mobile services, sending electronic greetings via SMS and MMS on special occasions like Eid has become extremely popular. It is considered fast, inexpensive, and reliable. However, until now no one in the local mobile market offered the service to send multimedia messages to international destinations. Telenor Pakistan is thus the first one to enable its customers to share precious moments and greetings with relatives and friends in distant countries in a simple, faster and cost effective way.

Multimedia messaging is a next generation message service that allows a variety of message elements to be sent over a network, including text, animations, photographs, sounds etc. The service is automatically available on all GPRS/ MMS configured handsets and no special activation request is required. The use of MMS for business and entertainment purposes is on the rise in Pakistan.
