Telenor Pakistan posts excellent financial results

ISLAMABAD, February 15, 2007: Telenor Pakistan has announced excellent financial results for the company for the Q4 2006 period. Telenor Pakistan added 2.1 million subscriptions during the three month period, while achieving the highest sales among all mobile operators in the Pakistani market in the month of December 2006.

According to the latest figures presented today at the 3GSM Conference in Barcelona, Spain, Telenor Pakistan estimated market share surged by 3 percentage points and its contribution to Telenor Group net additions last quarter worldwide hit the 21% mark.

Commenting on what has propelled Telenor Pakistan to achieve such performance within less than 2 years of operations in the face of intense competition, Telenor Pakistan CEO Tore Johnsen said, Telenor Pakistan is obviously different from the competition. Our culture is different, our values are different, and our focus on business fundamentals is a little different as well. We are building core strengths and utilizing them better than anyone else at this point I believe. Today we have the second largest network with widest GPRS and EDGE capability, the most diverse product portfolio, the fastest growing distribution, and one of the strongest organizations in the industry. Telenor Pakistan is fully involved with its key stakeholders and trusted as a friend of the community.

Telenor group President and CEO, Jon Fredrik Baksaas congratulated Telenor Pakistan on its performance and called it a major driver of the group record-high Q4 subscription growth of 10 million. Telenor mobile subscriptions worldwide now stand at an impressive 115 million. Compared to the previous year, Telenor's revenues increased by 37 per cent in 2006, to NOK 91.1 billion. Profit after taxes and minority interests more than doubled compared to 2005, reaching NOK 15.9 billion. In the fourth quarter of 2006, revenues increased by 30.0 per cent compared to the same period last year, reaching NOK 24.5 billion.
