Telenor Pakistan, Idara-e-Taleem-o-Agahi jointly organize 'Internet for All Connecting Responsibly' session

In line with its commitment to encourage the youth to utilize latest technologies and make a positive contribution to the society, Telenor Pakistan, in collaboration with Idara-e-Taleem-o-Agahi (ITA), organized an interactive session at Islamabad Model School for Boys, G-6, Islamabad under the theme 'Internet for All Connecting Responsibly'. Around 300 students participated in the program, which was organized as part of Telenor's 'Internet for All' initiative.

During the event, interactive activities on understanding the benefits of internet were conducted through animated videos, songs and fun quizzes, whereas topics on privacy issues and securing oneself on internet were also explored. The event also featured Saad Hamid and Awais Imran - Pakistani participants of the Telenor Youth Summit which was held in Oslo, Norway in December 2013, who inspired students with an account of their successful journey spear-headed by the use of internet.

The event presented the advantages of using the internet and digital tools in a positive manner, sharpening the minds of youth to become future prodigies, bringing honour and prestige to the country. The children were also encouraged to use internet as tools that will empower them to strive ahead in life and also work toward a digitally advancedPakistan.

On the occasion, Atifa Asghar, Director Communications & Corporate Responsibility Telenor Pakistan said, "The primary objective of the session is to provide students with a clear understanding of the benefits of using Internet, enabling them to tap the potential of the internet and be responsible future proponents in the digital age. Mobile and data connectivity brings tremendous opportunities to people, business and societies, especially for youth who can connect, learn and avail services unimaginable only a few years back".

Telenor Group is lending its voice to "create a better Internet together". In particular, Telenor is prioritizing the online safety of children. An estimated 500 million children live in Telenor's Asian markets, many of whom will be accessing Internet for the first time in subsequent years. Already, the Telenor Group has long experience in educating children about the Internet from successful outreach programs in Norway, Malaysia, Serbia, Sweden and Montenegro. The Group aims to take advantage of the knowledge it has developed with other players in these markets to launch similar initiatives in more Telenor markets particularly in Asia going forward.
