Easypaisa collaborates with FDMA to disburse funds to returning IDPs

Islamabad, February 2, 2015: Pakistan’s first and largest branchless banking service and a joint venture between Tameer Microfinance Bank and Telenor Pakistan, Easypaisa has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) to ensure the efficient and transparent disbursement of funds to the returning internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The MoU was signed by Yahya Khan, Chief Financial Services Officer, Telenor Pakistan and DG FDMA Ikram Ullah in the presence of Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan, Governor KPK. The funds are being disbursed at a time when IDPs are returning back home to Khyber Agency and surrounding areas.


Under the MoU, Easypaisa will be providing 50,000 registered IDPs with Telenor SIMs, along with opening Easypaisa Mobile Accounts and giving Easypaisa ATM cards to these beneficiaries. An amount of PKR 33,000 will be disbursed to each beneficiary which can be collected from any of the over 5,600 Easypaisa shops in the KPK and FATA region, and any accessible 1-Link ATM machine.


At the signing, Nadeem Hussain, Chief Executive Officer, Tameer Microfinance Bank, stated, “Easypaisa being the pioneer of mobile financial services industry in Pakistan has always been at the forefront in providing swift, secure and reliable financial services to the unbaked segment of the society. In addition to our extensive G2P portfolio of disbursing BISP funds, EOBI pensions and disbursements for various Punjab and Sindh Government departments, we are proud to serve FDMA by providing dedicated servicing to ensure a seamless disbursement of funds to the beneficiaries.”
