Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has directed all operators, including Telenor Pakistan, to provide information pertaining to certain customers

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has directed all operators, including Telenor Pakistan, to provide information pertaining to certain customers. The purpose stated by PTA is to help the Government of Pakistan in COVID-19 related relief activities. This information entails active mobile numbers, national identity card number, name, address and recharge history of selected customers of the operators.

In addition, PTA also directs Telenor Pakistan to disseminate different awareness messages from time to time to its subscribers.

Telenor Pakistan is by its license legally obliged to share the above mentioned data with PTA. The sharing is time limited to the duration of this pandemic.
