What is 4G?

4G is the fourth generation of mobile telecommunications technology, succeeding 3G. A 4G system, in addition to the usual voice and other services of 3G, provides mobile ultra-broadband Internet access.

This improved technology is now being offered to Telenor’s customers so they can have access to high-speed mobile internet. This new technology is structured to reduce the time it takes to send and receive data online, giving a better internet experience than 3G with visible difference in browsing, gaming, streaming and downloading.

What is the difference between 4G and 4G LTE?

They are the same, different names for the same technology.

What are the prerequisites of 4G high speed data?

Telenor 4G can be experienced as long as the subscriber is within 4G coverage area and has 4G 850 band compatible mobile handset, tablet or dongle and Telenor 4G Ready SIM.

For 4G to work, customers need a

•Telenor 4G Ready SIM
•Smartphone that is compatible with 4G 850 band which are legally imported in Pakistan
•Presence in 4G coverage area

Will Telenor 4G work on Prepaid & Postpaid both?

Yes, Telenor 4G will work both on Pre & Post paid connections.

What are the advantages of Telenor Pakistan’s 4G over other 4G networks in Pakistan?

Telenor’s 4G will have improved indoor coverage and better reach in comparison to the other operators because of its superior operating frequency band 850 MHz for 4G.

What is the speed of Telenor 4G?

4G can have speeds up to 150mpbs. However speed isn’t guaranteed; speeds will vary at different areas. Speed depends on the coverage, network load, number of users, customer handsets currently using the 4G network at that point of time.

How do subscribers activate Telenor 4G?

The subscribers needs to be in 4G coverage area, needs to have a 4G 850 capable handset  and a 4G ready SIM only to use Telenor 4G.

Will Telenor 4G network coverage be available across the country?

We are initially launching with selected areas in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad and Quetta. 4G coverage area is expanding soon.

What happens when I move out of Telenor 4G coverage?

When you move out of 4G coverage, you will be transferred seamlessly to 3G/EDGE depending on the service availability in the coverage area.

4G is enabled on my phone but I still get 3G/2G/E on my phone?

Check your coverage area from the Telenor 4G Network coverage Map. It might be the case the 4G is not available in that area currently.

What will be Telenor 4G speed?

Speed depends on handset, coverage, network traffic and number of users currently using the 4G network at a particular point of time. Therefore, speed will vary depending on these factors.

How can a I disable 4G if I do not want to use 4G?

You can change your handset setting to disable 4G

If a subscriber moves from Telenor 4G coverage to 3G/Edge coverage, what will happen to his data session?

The data sessions in progress will not be broken but subscriber will get slower data speed available under 3G/EDGE. The subscriber will be charged according to the

•3G/EDGE PayG rate OR
•In case of bundle subscription, volume from bundle subscribed will be consumed

Can a subscriber get access to 4G services being outside of the 4G coverage area?

Subscriber can access 4G services while staying only in 4G coverage area. When subscriber is out of the 4G coverage area, subscriber will enjoy browsing in 2G/EDGE/3G speed.

What are the benefits of 4G?

With 4G subscribers should be able to do the following at even faster speeds:

•Multimedia streaming & download
•High speed mobile broadband
•Video calling
•Live streaming TV
•Download of large email attachments very fast

Is Telenor 4G Different from 2G/3G?

Yes Telenor 4G is different.

It is an advanced version of 3G. 4G will provide better speed and internet experience within coverage area. Telenor 4G network will run to give subscribers access to higher speed internet, video call and richer multimedia experience within 4G coverage area.

Do subscribers need a separate SIM card to use Telenor 4G?

Yes, in addition to a 4G 850 compatible phone & Telenor 4G network, customers need a 4G ready SIM. Your existing SIMs can be replaced with 4G SIMs without changing your number from any Telenor Service Centre & Franchise in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad & Swat.

My handset supports 4G and I have the 4G SIM but my 4G is not working in coverage area?

Check your handset band support frequency. To use our 4G services your handset must support 4G 850 band and be legally imported in Pakistan

Check your handset setting and enable 4G.  You handset should have 4G support in its setting for our 4G to work. To use our 4G services your handset must support 4G 850 band and be legally imported in Pakistan

How can I check whether my handset supports Telenor 4G services?

Handset list will be update on Telenor’s website soon. Meanwhile, please check your phone specification for 4G 850 support and 4G settings on Google search engine.
